How It Started
While my husband and I were in Austin visiting friends I wanted to take pictures of some murals. After all, that's one thing Austin is known for. I had researched which murals I wanted to see and where they were located. Or so I thought. When we were going around Austin there were several murals that we couldn't find. So naturally, I got frustrated. These murals were either:
-
Taken down because it was painted over or the building was demolished.
-
Inside an establishment that you would have to physically go into.
-
Or the mural was there but you had to search high and low on the street because it was in an inconspicuous spot.
When doing research for murals you'll find a lot of blog posts and if you're lucky that post might give a vague explanation of where it's located, or limit the murals to their favorites/the most instagram-able, or never update their blog post.
That got us thinking, why isn't there a designated website for all the murals, street art, sculptures, etc for Dallas, with details about the location, the building it's on (or in), the artist, or a map that shows exactly where it's located?
So we created one! Go and explore the different areas of Dallas and its wonderful murals and street art!
