Ever since Victory Park was developed by Ross Perot, Jr., in 2001 the area hasn't stopped growing. Victory Park is centered around the American Airlines Center (AAC) which is home to the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and Dallas Stars hockey team. Exploring Victory Park became easy since my husband works in one of the office buildings next to the AAC.
The Art
One of the great things about Victory Park is all the artwork is within walking distance to each other.

Matchbox Light Sculpture
This bright sculpture lights up at night in different patterns. This sculpture is bright and colorful so its naturally one of my favorites! Located behind the South Victory sign facing Nowitzki Way and the W's Hotel valet area/entrance.

The next few murals are located closer to Woodall Rodgers Freeway an you will need to take N Field St and head South to get there.

Who doesn't love a good taco? 🙋🏼♀️ I know I do! Well now you have a chance to buy a great taco from Taqueria La Ventana (get the queso - you won't regret it!🤤) and take a picture of it and yourself in front of this great mural! Don't Mess With Tex-Mex Mural
The awesome play on words from Texas' state motto "Don't Mess with Texas". Love this mural mainly because I love Tex-Mex and everything it represents! This is located on the side of the El Fenix the true original Tex-Mex restaurant facing a small parking lot for the restaurant across Alamo St. This is literally where Tex-Mex started after all the creator of El Fenix, is the inventor of the Tortilla machine.

Exploring Victory Park
This area has a little something for everyone: The House of Blues concert venue and restaurant. Check to see if there's a show when you're going to be in the area. A few parks where you can some furry friends from apartment complexes surrounding the park. There are a few boutique work out places like: Orange Theory Fitness and Classic Pilates. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science has great exhibits and well worth a trip over there. Sweet Tooth Hotel is actually not a hotel but an immersive art experience. If you crave a good instagram photo opt this is your place. They change out their exhibit every year or so and get local artists to come in to create pieces that fit the new theme. The W Hotel is the most luxurious hotel in Victory Park. It has a great view of the Dallas Skyline and several lush amenities. Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas has high end food, drinks, and atmosphere. Great for an afternoon of relaxing and taking it slow. Escapology offers several live escape rooms where up to 8 people can play. They have 4.9 ⭐️s on google so the rooms must be good! Victory park is walking distance to Katy Trail. The Katy Trail is a walking path that runs through the Uptown and Oak Lawn areas of Dallas. It follows what use to be the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad which was nicknamed the Katy.
Restaurants
If you're wanting more of a sports bar vibe: Hero, Black Tap, or Shooters are where to go. If you're craving Tex-Mex like I often do there is Taqueria La Ventana, El Fenix, and Mesero. La Ventana is a casual outdoor seating taqueria that has a simple but delicious menu. El Fenix serves all you're favorite traditional Tex-Mex food and drinks. Considering they started in Dallas back in 1918 they know what their doing when it comes to Tex-Mex. Mesero is great for a nicer date night or hang out since it's a on the pricier and fancier side of Tex-Mex. For something that is on the healthy side there is Freshii which serves tossed salads, soups, burritos, and more. Of course if you want something that has more of a touristy vibe you need to check out The House Of Blues or Dick's Last Resort. The House of Blues of course is a concert venue that has a restaurant attached. Dick's Last Resort is the place you want to go if you want to be treated like garbage from the wait staff on purpose.
Desserts
If you ever need a sugar pick me up I highly suggest going to Insomnia Cookies. They sell hot, fresh cookies: traditional cookies along with deluxe and sandwich cookies. They are some of the best cookies I've ever had. Plus they're open super late, like 2am late. Speaking of dessert, Aqua S sells 100+ different flavors of soft serve ice cream. They believe your food should look as great as it tastes. I haven't been but their ice cream looks delicious!
Shopping
There isn't too much shopping in the area but there are a few spots. The Hangar, which is a sports store selling your favorite local teams gear and jerseys. Simply Elegant will cater all your floral needs to same day florals to big events. V.O.D. Boutique is an appointment only store that sells high end fashion.
As usual, for specific locations and directions of the following: parking, art, restaurants or shops mentioned please visit the map at the bottom of the blog post.
When & Where?
The best time/day to go Victory Park is whenever there isn't an event going on at the American Airlines Center. You'll have a hell of time finding parking. Luckily, during the day there aren't too many events that happen. So that would be your most opportune time to go. I felt completely safe walking around taking pictures during the day. There were plenty of people out and about going to restaurants, walking their dogs, running, etc.
Address:
2401 Victory Park Ln, Dallas, TX 75219
Transportation
Victory Park is walking distance to the DART and TRE Victory Station. This is one of the few stations that cater to both Dallas and Tarrant County public rail transit. This is the last station the TRE visits before turning around to head back into Tarrant County. There are several DART bus stops through out Victory Park. Click here for bus, rail, and streetcar routes and schedules.
Parking
There are 3 main parking garages in the area to accommodate the American Airlines Center. Of course being downtown, you'll have to pay to park in the garages unless you're there for 30 minutes or less. There is street parking around Victory Park but you have to pay using street meters.
Lots
In my opinion the best garage is right behind The Victor apartment complex underneath the restaurant, Dibs. It's the most central garage to everything around Victory Park. There are two entrances/exits: one off Victory Park Ln and one off Victory Ave.
This garage overlooks Highway 35, the ACC, and the DART/TRE Victory Station. Located off Victory Ave and in between Nowitzki Way and Trophy Pl. To my knowledge there is only one entrance/exit off Victory Ave.
The "Lexus garage" during events at the AAC is used for Lexus parking ticket holders. During nonevent days it is used for general parking for Victory Park shopping, eating, and apartments.
